Hello! I look forward to working with you!
Professionally, I am Kathleen but most people call me Kathy. I absolutely love being a therapist and helping people figure how out to be the best version of themselves. I have over 32 years of experience doing this, and I still find as much satisfaction today as the day I started.
I graduated from Franklin College in 1987. Go Grizzlies! It is a small liberal arts college south of Indianapolis. I majored in psychology and biology. I received my masters degree in social work from IUPUI in 1989. It was a solid foundation to start my career as a therapist.
I enjoy working with adult clients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders or grief and loss issues. Another passion of mine is working with couples. I find it challenging and quite rewarding to assist couples to work through their issues and help them become strong and vibrant in their relationship.
Life has many challenges and unexpected turns along the way. Along with that come many strong emotions which can feel overwhelming and confusing. Therapy is one way to figure out what is going on with yourself and in your relationships to cause the situation you are facing.
No one is given a blueprint to figure out how to deal with life. Therapy can be your personal, individual way to develop your own “life manual” to help you grow and change.
My personality is very casual; most people find me nurturing and warm. I genuinely love getting to know new people, learning about their story and how they’ve come to be who they are.
I am a Level Three Gottman trained couples therapist, certified in EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). As with all of the Mindwell therapists, I am also trained in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders . This is just a few of the many trainings I have done over the years, and I will bring all my expertise to your sessions.
When I am not working, I love to be outdoors. Hiking, biking and exploring new coffee shops are things I enjoy.
